View Full Version : 2007 All Ford Nationals...

Hello everyone...As you all know the Carlisle All Ford Nationals will be held June 1-3, 2007.

One of the feature/themes of 2007 we are working on is the 40th anniversary of the Cougar. If you thought the Bronco's came out in force for their 40th birthday, wait until you see the Cougar display! We'll see if the "cats" can out do the "horses."

What else would you like to see at the 2007 show? Special guests, featured cars, activities, etc.?

Thanks - Rich

Is it June yet? :hyper:
I already have two rooms booked! I can't wait!
Cougars eh? There should be a huge turnout.

The only thing that I can think of right now is that more people need to know about the shuttles. They're a valuable asset to every event. We were on the top of the hill (and liked it) but many people came up and said, "Boy, I wish there was a shuttle to bring me up here." When we told them that there was, they were always surprised.

Gonna be a tall order to out do the Broncos! :) I really had a blast at the 2006 show and I'm looking forward to 2007. I do hope that you don't put the Broncos back up on the hill since they aren't the feature vehicle. See you next year!

We like the hill :)

I'm with Manda on the spacing but, I understand that the reason they ran out of room. I've read it was due to not enough pre-registrations and too many "At-The-Gate" registrations. The staff allots space based on pre-registrations plus some super-secret unknown factor. Word is that there were more gate registrations than expected. I can see the Focus being the headliner one year.

BOT.

Were there any lavatories on the hill? Maybe that could be added.

Yeah I know about the shuttles. I just like to walk everywhere I go because there's so much stuff to see along the way plus I don't like waiting for shuttles. I suppose the bottom line is I'm just lazy :)

i agree w/ that and also more by the camping spaces.....it gets to be quite a hike to the bathrooms.......

Rich@Carsatcarlisle

I'll see what I can do about bathrooms. And for the Focus space, I will adjust that too. The one thing that I noticed is the newer cars keep growing in HUGE numbers each year and we haven't figured out the correct space to give and then space runs out - I hope you understand. There will be some adjustments for the show field layout, we'll try to get the 4x4 trucks off the side of the hill so they don't tip over and that will rearrange somethings that should work out well for everyone.
Keep the ideas flowing!
Thanks!

Thank you for listening Rich. We realize that the staff can't do everything (like level the hill) but listening to the masses is clearly a good first step.

Now ... about free food and drink ... ;)

I agree with OldSchool! The hill rocks and Mark VII's belong on top of it. :)

Only gripe I have (and it's no real big deal) is we have LOTS of classes to judge on the fun field. Kinda takes away from enjoying the rest of the show. 2006 was the 2nd year I never made it to the inside displays.

Still would be nice to receive our windshield decal before the show so we can just cruise onto the field and onward to the hill.

Otherwise, the Ford Nats is one top-notch show that never disappoints!

I wonder how much more each window sticker would cost with a hologram on it (especially with a 2000 sticker discount)? Hmmm. That would make for a secure entrance system. Bar coding is another example of being able to send out preregistration stickers. Two wireless bar code readers at the front gate would speed things up greatly. I'll bet that there is a bar coding company or two that would provide this service in return for promotional consideration.

My only request would be that the 03-04 Mach 1's stay as there own group and not be lumped in with others like last year. 03-04 mach 1 & Up, which for some reason included 05 and up V-6 stangs.... Whats up with that. Each year the group has over 40 cars so we should warrant our own group.
Thanks

Some more suggestions for 2007 All Ford Nationals themes:
75th Anniversary of 32 Ford
50th Anniversary of Ranchero
50th Anniversary of Skyliner retractable hardtop.
40th Anniversary of Shelby GT 500
25th Anniversary of Fox bodied Mustang GT

I like the variety that Carlisle provides every year, being a Ford fan there is plenty to offer besides Mustangs!

I agree... send the sticker with the field/event registration confirmation would greatly speed things up. I would gladly pay another few dollars to cover the added expense of barcoding and mailing. As to the goody bags, set up a table inside the gate and hand one to each driver as he enters. Got a sticker? Get a bag! :)

I believe a lot of the problem doing that is people dont always bring the car they registered? Dont understand the need for bar codes.

I didn't know that.
I don't understand why anyone would register one car and then bring another :) But I'm floating way off my original statement.

Carlisle staff did well by having a MUSTANG tent and then an OTHER tent. That sped us along greatly. Carlisle staff did well by providing separate desks for pre-registered and gate-registered participants. That sped us along greatly. Registration parking is finite. Registration counter space is finite. The number of staff at the counters is finite. Reducing the numbers of participants needing to stop at the gate or registration area would speed us along greatly.

Instead of $35.00, I might opt to pay $37.50 to receive a barcoded, hologramed, magnetic striped (etc) sticker or card in the mail. For the added cost, I receive the convenience of bypassing the registration area altogether. We drive up to the gate to be scanned, or read or swiped or whatever and then go directly to our Club tent and park for the next three days. I can take the shuttle to the gate for my goodie bags or ... there could be an entirely separate tent for pre-registered participants to visit on the fair grounds. :)

Every additional feature or service needs additional funding.

I would pay $2.50 more to bypass the current registration area.

a couple CAT D9 dozers would fix the 'problem' real fast. it would make the shows more enjoyable and increase the value of the land.

2 you really think a couple bucks a car will pay for the equipment needed for a barcode system?

oldschool1

2 you really think a couple bucks a car will pay for the equipment needed for a barcode system?

Nope. I'm not that naive. :)

Without going through and quoting myself, IIRC I suggested that there may be a vendor that would provide services in return for promotional consideration. As a former dot.com CEO, my company would have gladly set up and maintained a bar-code system for Carlisle Events in return for having (the former) www.tpmm.com on each ticket/window sticker/flyer that involves registration.

If the barcode system cost me (the vendor) $5,000.00 per year and advertising at Carlisle would normally cost me $10,000.00 per year, it would be in my best interest to offer my services to Carlisle in return for promotional consideration.

I'm no longer a CEO ... I'm a car enthusiast that really likes hanging out with other car enthusiasts. To put myself back on topic, my answer to the thread's question is, "Could the registration process be smoother utilizing different technology?"

Hi!

Point some of those same Focus owners to this thread so that we can get thier input. What I tell people is that promoters normally listen to the paying customers.

There were a LOT of paying customers at the 2006 Al Ford Nationals :)

I'm one of those Focus owners (i have one of the few red Focus's that show up every year. LOL) and yes we do need more room. I've been going the past 3 years and the first year I went (04) we were on the other side of the hill close to the grandstands/vendors and stuff and it seemed like a lot more people were looking at our cars there. I hope we get a ton of Focus's there this year cause every year I put something up on the Focus forum I visit and it seems as though no one wants to make the drive.

ZX3,
I'm offtopic but ...
Focus owners need to pre-register when it openes up (possibly December, 2006).
If 50 Focus owners pre-register, Carlisle Staff will reserve 50+ spots.
If 100 Focus owners pre-register, Carlisle Staff will reserve 100+ spots.
If 500 Focus owners pre-register, Carlisle Staff will ... be very very happy.

Rich@Carsatcarlisle
11-27-2006, 10:14 AM
If you guys/gals pre-register 500 focus's (or is the foci) I'll let you pick whatever spot you want on the grounds :)

As for the room on for the Focus area, we'll work on that. The thing about it is the vast jump in numbers from year to year on new cars. One year we may have 20 Focus and the next we have 50. We cannot perdict that kind of jump and that's when the areas get tight. It has a lot to do with pre-reg numbers, and a lot to do with the past years numbers.

ZX3_Chick
11-28-2006, 02:46 AM
Yeah it was weird in 05 we had about 25 or so then 06 we had about 50. I think a lot of them don't pre-register and wait til the day of the show and come in therefore we don't have enough spots. I'm gonna try my best for 07:)

Q: What is preregistration?
A: Purchasing tickets in advance for you and your vehicles for the Fun Field Events.

Q: Why should I preregister?
A: It's quick, easy, and inexpensive! You can preregister two or three cars online in under twenty minutes. The form is very User friendly and straight forward. The cost of registration goes up 19 days before the event.

Q: How do we preregister for an event?
A: Preregistration is available online at http://www.carsatcarlisle.com

Q: Can we choose where our cars are placed on the Fun Field?
A: Cars are placed only by Carlisle Staff.

Q: How does the Carlisle Staff choose where our cars are placed?
A: Carlisle Staff determines vehicle location based on several items such as your vehicle's year, model, and number of preregistrations.

Q: Is there a deadline for preregistrations?
A: You can register all the way up to the day of the event but registration prices will increase 19 days prior to the event.

Make your participation known to The Carlisle Staff! No matter what you drive, The Lincoln Mark VII Club (http://www.thelincolnmarkviiclub.org/index.htm) encourages all participants (and even some spectators) to preregister for the Fun Field!

You're welcome Rick.
We receive a LOT of questions about Carlisle and try to either point interested parties to Rich and the rest of the staff at the CarsAtCarlisle.com site or answer their questions directly.

Just like last season, we're advocating preregistration.

When on Sunday are the awards announced? When does it close down on Sunday? I suppose people start bugging out through the day.

One_Way

Judging is done all day Saturday until around 4PM (?) or around there.

The awards given out by Carlisle are not announced on Saturday.

Sunday morning, a tent is set up in the lower field, near the entrance, where ALL participants are to report to Sunday morning. You will find the complete list of winners there.

You may choose to accept your award right there and then and "bug out" or you can be a part of the awards parade (VERY cool) and receive your award at the staging area later in the afternoon.

When you arrive, you will receive a program that explains all of this.

I believe the car giveaway is at 3:00 on Sunday. The awards parade is just before the giveaway. A majority of the vendors are either packed up or gone by that time on Sunday.

Lots of good questions AND answers thus far! Let me try to make a few clarifications if I can.

Judging (Participant voting only!):
Saturday-Completed ballots must be turned in to Information Booth by 5PM!

Winner's List:
Sunday-Posted at 9AM!
You may pickup your award & depart then. However the Parade is VERY cool!

Awards:
Sunday-1PM!

Giveaway (Car or $5000 cash!):
Sunday-3PM! (No purchase necessary! Winner must be present & has 10 minutes to report to stage to claim the prize!)

Cougars:
There is no Building "P". We are honoring the 40th Anniversary of the Cougar, along with other's like Edsel (50th) and Ranchero (50th). We will have a display of Invitational Cougar's in Builing "Y" along with a variety of other vehicles, including concepts. The rest of the Cougar classes will be located in the Showfield.

There is also a reunion for Mach 1 Mustangs and Feature Car Mustangs, some of which will be on display in one of our Invitational Buildings ("T" or "Y")! Lots going on to see and enjoy!

Vendors (Swap Meet):
Some will depart Saturday evening or Sunday morning. However, most will not leave until after 3PM Sunday.

Manufacturer's Midway:
The manufacturer's located on the Midway will be available until 3PM!

Hope this answers most questions. Keep checking our web site for the latest news and udpates!

See everyone in June!

We're rocking & rapping to the sounds of Blue Oval Specials hauling the mail to Carlisle, PA! Arriving just in time to dance the night away to the sounds of many storied and true Ford and Lincoln-Mercury classics!

See the greatest show in town. Where on display for your viewing pleasure, are some of the Baddest and Wildest 'Stangs, Coolest Cats, Flying Birds, and a whole lot more of what Edsel Ford has to offer!

From vintage tin to the baddest rods, we're gambling with Dueces wild that the sight and sound of Lightning haulers escorting hardtops and convertibles to the races will trip your trigger and ignite the fire of desire.

Sample some of the best very iron to ever come out of the Motor City! Some even bear the flare of french names and ooze with the classic sound of elegance! While others conjure thoughts of the Wild West, some fit like the tunes of the fabulous fifties.

Whatever your tastes in classic iron, this will be one the very best All-Ford Nationals to leap out of the blocks! Don't miss this edition of the show that Henry Ford never dreamed possible!

Guess I'm going to have to set up a FOCUS/MARK VII meet of my own in Harrisburg just to meet you <g>

The Lincoln Mark VII Club and the Lincolns of Distinction occupied 800 square feet of tent in an area capable of holding 50 plus cars on the other side of the hill, north west of your group.

Lastly, you missed the unveiling of my latest acquisition ... PINKIN LINCOLN! The only
