View Full Version : 2005 Truck Nationals
We have been attending the truck nationals for many years. This year 2005 we brought 3 trucks and friends brought 7. How can a show that bills itself as Americas Premiere Truck Show have only 1 class for Ford trucks from 1948 to 1996. Other classes were just as bad. Current Carlisle management in just 2 years has taken the number one truck show and turned it into a fourth rate joke. My sons and I will no longer attend. Good bye Carlisle.

I agree, the classes were a joke. People were judge by different standards and then lumped into the same class. Not cool at all.

the show has really sucked since they moved the dates 2 years ago, it seems that there is less trucks and less spectators than there were with the june shows...
The show on a whole sucked. I may not go next year either! It has gone down the tubes since the date change from July to August. There seem to be less trucks and more commercialism than previous years. I feel the changes in the classes did screw alot of people. What did the less classes cost Carlisle? Maybe a couple hundred bucks savings if that. Without the class sheets telling what was modified the judges had no clue as to what was what in any of the trucks they were judging. They did not even seem to check basics', cleanliness to detail, and workmanship.
We did have our fun parties at the hotel though! It was good seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

The show has changed for the worse the last 2 years. I've been going since 93 and it was the best show on the east coast. Bring back the way the classes were and get rid of the drive up judging, the trucks were sitting on the lines over 2 hours to get judged....I learned my lesson last year when my class was changed without notice, plus had to wait on line....this year I did the fun field only but may not return next year if changes are not made.

Only reason I'll be coming back is I get a chance to meet so many of the people on the Forums I frequent.
I got judged and made it to the grandstands at 3:31............. figuring my family and I would be other in time to make it into the grandstands for the 5:00 activities Hydrualic dance, burnout contest etc
They had closed the stands at 3:30 already. .... at least this year they gave bracelets out so those who needed to leave and use the facilities so they could get back in.
Where is there a winners list on-line?

I have been going to the All-Truck Nats since '95 and there have been some major changes since then. The show has definitely gotten quite a bit larger. In '95 it barely hit 1000 trucks. The date change really did drastically change the amount of spectators that show up. Our club site is just inside gate 3 so we used to see a constant stream of people on Saturday but now there are very few. But the amount of show vehicles has increased a lot and they really loosened up with the security this year. I HATE the date change but it kinda had to be done. If not they would have GM and Corvettes just a couple weeks apart and it would hurt both shows. I will be going back next year and I'm sure things will change again.

The truck show is second rate at best. Classes are way to big, not even a place for stock trucks… make a class for show room stock trucks included all makes and models. The Invitational building had a ton of local trucks. Venders spaces were empty or unsold.
I normally make 3 or 4 shows at Carlisle Spring Chrysler trucks and fall. The truck show is continuously the worst of the bunch, and seem to get worse each year.
Carlisle shows are local shows for me but next year trucks will be dropped from my schedule.

I'm sorry that you feel that the quality of the event gone down. I'm sure you know that it's very hard to keep everyone happy with the judging situation. We do participant judging for many of our other events, and some people don't like that either. Some people say we have too many classes. We are just trying to do the best that we can.
Of course, all of your suggestions will be taken into consideration when planning next year's All-Truck Nationals.
Thanks for all your comments!

Becky none of the Ford, Chevy or Mopar shows have near the class size that the truck show has. The Mopar show has 9 or so classes of PT Cruisers, they go from show room stock to out of this world. Dodge trucks have a bunch of classes at the Mopar show also.
Dodge trucks at the Truck show have 1 class. If you would split the Dodge trucks up into the body style classes Pre 1972, 1972 to 1993, and 1994 to present, it would let some of us that have nice older trucks bring them to the show, and know we are being judged against the same body style trucks.
Even though it is called a “Fun Field” you want to be able to compete against like trucks to ensure that you are being given a fair shake. When you are competing against all of the dodge trucks what happens the judge like one body style better then the other. So the less like body style has less of a chance.
