Hello everyone. I was wondering, what do you prefer: Plaques or Trophies?

If it is trophies, do you prefer Classic style (bowling-awards) or acrylic (glass-like)?

Whichever you pick, what do you like about them?

Thanks!

I would definitely say a trophy is better than a plaque. A trophy has more of an impact for an award. All plaques I have ever seen look the same to me with different words on it. Thats not too exciting in my book. A trophy (especially a glass sculpture type thing) has more of a symbolic meaning. It's more of a 'prize' than just something telling you that you've won.

Whichever you choose, I am aiming to win one ;)

I on the other hand like plaques because you can hang them on the wall instead of having trophies sitting around collecting dust. I like hanging the plaques on the wall in the garage because they take up no space. My vote is for plaques!!

For the specialty awards like Best of Show, Best Interior, Best Engine, Best of anything, I would agree with something like a glass sculpture or something off the wall that stands out. Those are the types of trophies you should spend some money on to make people proud that they have something considered the "Best of..." Just my $.02

I like plaques for the same reasons. Plus you can put more on them as in wording or even sponsor names( hint Rich $$ ). One thing that would also be cool is give a name to the specialty trophies/plaques a different name than what they mean that is catchy or funny. For example, the lowest truck in the high/low contest can get the "De-capitated Squirrel" award. And the highest can get the "Nosebleed" award. The burnout contest winner could get the "Trojan" award( another sponsor opportunity ). I'm just kidding on the names but you get the idea. Have some fun with them. You could even give away some joke gifts with the trophies.

I must say that I am very shocked with this outcome. I thought people liked trophies. How about this...acrylic plaques? That way it is a fresh new idea?

I like trophys but the plaques are nice also. The only thing that could be improved on is make them a little more personal, when they say "Fun Field 1st place" it really does not describe what class you were in or what the award is all about. Have the model of the truck and class you won the award for.

I like either style I hang the plaques on the wall behind the trophies.

One problem with Acrylic plaques is they are susceptible to the back ground color and don't take pictures very easy.

With the color in my office as shown in the attached picture I had to put a book behind the "glass trophy to get the words visible.

In the other attached picture the Acrylic style trophy is barely visible in my left hand.

For a fresh idea - make the plaque an acrylic picture frame. Have the frame say Carlisle All Trucks - 2006 then you can bulk order them all the same.

Insert an "all trucks placard" in the picture area - that way you can get the www.carsatcarlisle.com and appropriate sponsers name on the trophy. If you wanted to get fancy you could customize the class information and # places even at the last minute by printing off a new class placard.

Then get your trucks picture taken on Sunday during the winners parade and simply insert the picture.

i would normally say trophy but as long as i havegone to the event it has been a plaque. the only thing i would change would be that they are non personal or specific. put the class and place on it. i do like the named events idea too

Bowling-award type trophies are definitely out. Acrylic type awards with engraving are gaining in popularity.

For the above reasons, I prefer a plaque and would also prefer an acrylic award. Please don't give out bowling alley trophies.

Thanks for asking us Rich! :)

Bowling trophies wern't in my plans :) I like the acrylic style awards and the guy I know that does them actually has taken them to a new level and can print color on them instead of ingraving them. Keep the thoughts coming.

I have to concur with plaques too. I like a nice plaque hanging on the wall more than a trophy sitting on a shelf.

"color inlay on the acrylic plaque" sounds really nice.

I believe the audio contest gives out trophies.

I am working on acrylic for next year. This year you will see them popping up in some places to get reactions. So far the reactions have been great.
