Let me start off by saying thank you, Rich, for adding this event to the schedule. I signed up to enter but only got 1 pass before it was shut down. I missed alot of the initial setup while I was waiting in line but from many reliable sources I hear that the caution tape was almost an after-thought. Perhaps next year you could setup a more solid barrier a few extra feet back? When I took my turn I was just barely over 25 mph and every event staff member was screaming for me to slow down. I can understand after hearing about one truck kicking out (which I didn't know at the time) but 25 mph is too slow to put on a proper spark show. Also, one of my friends mentioned about possibly going up the hill instead of down the hill to have a better 'landing zone'. That would give any out of control truck a better chance to slow down and require that a truck actually have enough power to get up the hill with some speed.

I hope anyone else who attended/entered will add their thoughts here. I look forward to entering again next year without worry of any spectators getting hurt. It's a great idea and I saw more people in line for this event than for the burnout and high/low combined it seemed. There is definitely interest here. Thanks again for including it as an event - even if we call this year the 'trial and error' year.

i agree on the whole area thing. i couldnt get a shot on my camera at all because it wasnt dark enough yet. but i think itwas a good trail thing to do. hopefully next year if you guys decide to do it again, you can find a smooth road and have it barricaded off.

Hi guys. I don't want to throw anyone under the bus, but the caution tape was suposed to be up earlier in the day and 10 feet off the road on both sides. So it wasn't an after thought, it was just put up a little late. Some of that may have been that no one here believed me that it would be so popular. And the road, that was all my fault. During the summer I must have stood on that road 1000 times looking at it and didn't notice the side-to-side pitch until I was standing there for the drag contest. I HOPE to have that on the schedule again for 2007 and have already been looking for better places to have it. Even just higher up on that road by the rocks would be flatter side-to-side. Thanks for the input!

how about down on the road next to the big hill. People stand up there all day and yell for people to drag anyways. That way you would have the side of the hill and the guard rail up top as a natural barrier, and just add something on the bottom side.
